Itinerary

1. Arrival day to Bratislava, 2. Sightseeing in Bratislava 3. Mining towns Banská Štiavnica, Banská Bystrica and Donovaly, 4. The best of Hight Tatras, 5. Orava castle, Demänovská cave of Liberty, 6. Folk village Čičmany, Piešťany, Trnava & honey farm 7. Spa time in Piešťany 8. Departure 

This moderately active trip covers three to four hours walking every touring day, except of Piešťany. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs and steps.

Day 1: Arrival day  

Arrival to the airport, transfer to the hotel Sheraton **** in Bratislava, check in and dinner at the hotel.  

Day 2: Bratislava  

Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia since 1993. It is only one capital city in the world which is situated on the border of three states: Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. Bratislava was a city where the austro-hungarian monarchs from Habsburg house (1563–1830) were crowned (11 kings and 7 king’s wives). Experience the unique atmosphere in small streets with original restaurants and cafés. During your sightseeing you will see symbol of Bratislava – Bratislava castle, cathedral of St. Martin where coronation took place, Michael’s gate and another symbol of Bratislava – unique bridge with restaurant which looked like UFO. You will have also free time for lunch and shopping. In the evening, we will visit honey farm where we have a dinner, and we will taste samples of quality Slovak honey.  

Day 3: Banská Štiavnica, Banská Bystrica and Donovaly  

After the breakfast and check out, we will transfer to hotel in Donovaly. During the way, we will visit two slovak mining towns: Banská Štiavnica and Banská Bystrica. The former mining town of Banská Štiavnica is one of the most beautiful and historically interesting places in Slovakia. Banská Štiavnica is a very well-preserved medieval town and because of their historical value, the town and its surroundings are part of UNESCO World Heritage. There are 360 historical buildings in the Banská Štiavnica city monument reserve. The main landmark of the city center is the Old Castle located on the west of Trojičné Square. We also recommend visiting of mining museum in nature. Banská Bystrica is the sixth largest city in Slovakia and the cultural and economic center of central Slovakia. In the past, the town was one of the three richest Central Slovak mining towns. The pride of Banská Bystrica is the central square SNP transformed into a pedestrian zone with a unique atmosphere. The most beautiful view of the colorful area of the main square is from the slender Clock Tower. It was built in 1552 as part of the city prison. In the evening, check in and dinner at the hotel Residence **** in Donovaly.  

Day 4: High Tatras  

Today we are going to High Tatras. Our first stop will be Bachledova Valley. We will take a cable car to Tree Top Walk. Then we will continue to Ždiar museum where you experience traditional goral wedding. After lunch, we will continou to Východná Farm – during the tour, you will observe how to feed, milk and care about cows and sheeps. You will have contact with adult cows as well as with small calves. Then you can try preparing your own cheese product. Next stop is the Štrbské Pleso, popular touristic and ski resort. Its landmark is a big glacial lake with the same name as the resort where we will have a nice walk around. Transfer to the hotel Ski & Wellness Residence Družba **** in Low Tatras and dinner.  

Day 5: Orava, Liptov and Low Tatras  

Today we will see one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia – Orava Castle. We will also recommend a sightseeing cruise along the Orava River with unique views of Orava Castle and will return to the past, at least for a while. Than we will continue to the waterfall Lúčky, located in the middle of the village Lúčky, declared to national natural heritage. The tour will continue to the water reservoir Liptovska Mara, the biggest one in Slovakia. After we will visit one of the biggest caves in Slovakia, the Demänovská cave of Liberty. The entrance to the cave must be reached by a short walk up the hill, so good shoes are recommended. The tour of the cave takes about one hour, and its length is 1,15 km with 913 stairs up and down. Then we will procede to Vrbické lake – the biggest natural lake in Low Tatras next to the hotel Ski & Wellness Residence Družba **** and dinner. 

Day 6: Čičmany, Piešťany and Trnava  

After breakfast we are going to Piešťanyon our way we will visit the folk village Čičmany, which is famous for its unique decorated houses, that look like gingerbread cottages. Then we will go sightseeing the Spa town Piešťany, world-famous for its healing geothermal water and sulfur mud. Not many visitors know, that Ludovit Winter, the establisher of the spas had Jewish origin. How this visioner was thinking, what were one of his greatest ideas, you will explore in the guided tour around the town. Then we will transfer to the town Trnava. The beginnings of the first free royal city on the territory of today’s Slovakia date back to the 13th century. Discover historic streets interspersed with stories and legends, town houses, and city walls that still surround the historic city center like a mighty stone fortress. The Renaissance city tower with unique mechanical clockwork gives splendid views over the city. With its 11 churches (including two synagogues), Trnava is also widely known as Small (Slovak) Rome. Afternoon, we will visit creative center where we try traditional slovak craft activity. Transfer to Spa Ensana Hotel Thermia Palace *****  in Piešťany, dinner at the hotel.  

Day 7: Piešťany Spa  

Day 7 will be about relax. The town Piešťany has one of the largest Spa complexes in Europe, also is world-famous for its healing geothermal water and sulfur mud. Let’s pamper by spa treatments and relax in wellness center. Then walk around the beautiful spa island, green parks or the center with cafés, restaurants, and shops.  

Day 8: Departure day  

Full of experience and memories, we will move to the airport and fly back home.
